Steelers land 2 on 2021 PFWA All-Rookie Team

The Pro Football Writers of America put out its All-Rookie Team on Tuesday and the Pittsburgh Steelers got two players on the roster.

Pittsburgh running back Najee Harris and punter Pressley Harvin III both made the team. Harris finished the season fourth in the NFL in rushing yards with 1,200 and had a total of 1,667 total yards of offense and 10 total touchdowns.

Harvin had an up and down season marred by the death of his father. But in a season where there weren’t many rookie punters seeing significant playing time, Harvin’s 42.6 yards per punt on 70 tries were good enough to be the best among the rookie class.

The Steelers have several other rookies who played prominent roles but missed the cut. Most surprising is tight end Pat Freiermuth who missed out to Atlanta Falcons rookie Kyle Pitts. Pitts finished the season with 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and one receiving touchdown. Freiermuth had only 60 receptions for 497 yards but did catch six touchdowns.
