“The real issue is tempo. We didn’t manage to play proactively. We were very reactive and rarely initiated plays, and at this level, that’s noticeable immediately,” G2 jungler Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan said to Sheep Esports while explaining the European team’s journey so far at MSI 2025.
The League player also mentioned “rotations and base timings” as one of the reasons the team almost fumbled at the first stage of the competition, but the team reviews going forward should help them adapt better in the tournament. The European team had two 3-2 matches against FURIA and GAM Esports, with both series ending in a decider. They also lost a qualifying match against Bilibili Gaming by 3-0, leaving fans feeling nervous about their future in the tournament.
SkewMond has the highest number of kills among all junglers at the MSI 2025 Play-ins, according to stats site Oracle’s Elixir, and his presence in the squad has definitely helped them clinch those crucial deciders to stay alive in the event.
G2 will be looking to bounce back from their abysmal performances in the Bracket stage. They will be facing Gen.G, who are the defending MSI champions, so the European squad will have to be in their best form to have a shot at defeating the Korean powerhouse.
Europe’s other representative, Movistar KOI, will face Bilibili Gaming in their first match at MSI, and they’ll be looking to upset the Chinese squad. Even if the teams lose their match, they’ll have the losers’ bracket as the last stop before exiting the tournament and heading home.
