Sherlock Holmes nemesis Moriarty to lead new drama series

Sherlock Holmes James Moriarty Andrew Scott Jared Harris Kris Thykier Durham University Fremantle England Police Psychology

A new TV series, with the working title “Moriarty”, is set to reinvent the Sherlock Holmes universe by focusing on his arch-nemesis, Professor James Moriarty.
The series is a collaboration between Fremantle and Archery Pictures, the production company from Bafta-nominated producer Kris Thykier, while the writers will be Chris Cornwell and Oliver Lansley.
In the show, Moriarty is a Durham University professor of criminal psychology who secretly masterminds sophisticated crimes across northern England.
He is forced to join the police as a consultant, partnering with Detective Imogen Burrows, to dismantle a rival criminal empire while concealing his true identity.
While casting is yet to be announced, actors who have previously played Moriarty include Jared Harris , Andrew Scott and Donal Finn.
