Scotland duo Fiona Burnet and Jen Eadie set for GB debuts in Argentina

EXPERIENCED Scotland duo Fiona Burnet and Jen Eadie are set for Great Britain debuts as the FIH Pro League season begins in Argentina.

Both have won close to 80 caps for their country and have been called into David Ralph’s squad for matches against the hosts and the Netherlands, the top two sides in the world, later this month.

England’s Flora Peel, a member of this summer’s Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning side, has also been named in the squad for the first time.

Captain Hollie Pearne-Webb is four appearances away from becoming only the 12th woman to win 100 GB caps.

The men’s team also face the same opposition in Santiago del Estero and they have named four debutants – Nick Bandurak, the Commonwealth Games top scorer as England won bronze, Nick Park, James Mazarelo and Stuart Rushmere – in their travelling party.

“Taking on the number one and two teams in the world is a fantastic challenge for our group and these are our first competitive matches as GB in this cycle,” said women’s coach David Ralph.

Men’s coach Paul Revington added: “It’s a really exciting challenge, Argentina is one of the hardest nations to travel to and win hockey matches.”
