Former London Irish second-row Ed Scragg has signed for the Scarlets ahead of next season.
The Wales U20s cap will link up with the squad for pre-season next month, before being a part of the restructured Senior Academy at the Scarlets.
Born in England, the 6ft 7in lock qualifies for Wales through his mother's side of the family, having played in the 2019 U20s World Championships alongside the likes of Ryan Conbeer, Sam Costelow and Kemsley Mathias.
The 22-year-old previously came through the Dragons Academy while studying on the sports management course at Cardiff Met University.
After a stint at Cornish Pirates and a loan spell at Plymouth Albion, he joined London Irish in 2022.
During his time there, he played six matches in a Premiership Cup campaign that ended with the Exiles reaching the final.
Earlier this year, he headed to Australia for a loan deal with Sydney University - playing alongside another Wales age-grade alumni in Jac Lloyd.
However, since moving to Australia, Irish went into administration last month. Subsequently, they were suspended from the Premiership earlier this month and have since seen a large number of players leave to join other clubs - with Scragg the latest to find a new club.
Speaking about the new signing, Scarlets Head Coach Dwayne Peel said: "Ed is a talented young Welsh lock with a lot of potential. He has been gaining invaluable experience with Cornish Pirates in the Championship and more recently London Irish and is looking to continue his development with us at the Scarlets.
“We're looking forward to welcoming him to Parc y Scarlets when he returns from his spell playing in Australia.”
Scragg added: “It was sad to finish my time at Irish in the manner that it ended and I’d like to thank the club for the opportunity they gave me and wish everyone well for the next chapter.
“I am grateful to the Scarlets for giving me the chance to continue my professional career and I am excited about linking with a great club with a proud history when I return to Wales now that I have finished my time playing in Sydney.”
