"After constant training every week, it was an unbelievable experience to see them hold the trophy after being together for four years, it was a huge success to see them beat (Houghton)."

Abi Lee said: "To be part of Ryton U15 girls is amazing to just witness how far we've come from starting in U13s with just five players to now several. I love rugby because I find it almost an outlet for my emotions for example if I've had a bad day at school I can turn up to training on a Friday and it'll end my day on a high as being around my friends/teammates and coaches never fails to raise my spirit and uplift my mood."

Rugby player, Martha Daley, 15 explains: "The coaches Peter and Shaun are very supportive and have helped develop the team and helped us get where we are. They're very dedicated which is appreciated by us all. They're fun and make training enjoyable.

"The game itself against Houghton was challenging and we knew it would be hard. They came out fighting and scored an early try and this made us more determined to win."

And Brooke Morris, 14, the team captain said: "Whilst being a part of Ryton U15 girls I've made so many close friends and learned how important it is to be part of a team. Every coach has helped bring me on to a level of rugby I never thought I was capable of.

"Being captain of such an amazing team is a privilege especially when you put in so much hard work as a team and at the end of the season you get to raise that county cup in the air knowing we have all earned is the best feeling you could ever experience."
