"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

The late singer's death comes just weeks after the band confirmed a reunion. S Club also recently appeared in a BBC Eurovision sketch for Comic Relief.

In a tweet to S Club 7, Rylan said: "Sending all the love to you all xxx". Many more fans have also paid tribute to Paul.

Adam said: "Hard to describe to anyone outside the UK just how huge S Club 7 were for a couple of years there. Anyone who spent Saturday mornings watching SMTV and CDUK knows what I mean."

Mathew said: "Truly heartbreaking. @Paulcattermole1 R.I.P. DEVASTATED", while Em said: "My brain cannot comprehend this.

"Paul was such a huge part of many people’s childhood, his passing is devastating and 46 is no age. Sending love to all who knew him and his S Club 7 bandmates."
