Ryan Tubridy and agent Noel Kelly agree to make sensational Dail committee appearance

Ryan Tubridy will be coming into Leinster House next week to face questions over his €345,000 secret payments from RTE.

The latest sensational development in the RTE spending scandal will see the man in the eye of the storm come before two committees for questions.

Both the Oireachtas Media Committee and the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) had extended invites to Mr Tubridy to come in and give his side of the story that has gripped the nation for two weeks now.

And Mr Tubridy has answered the call, with a letter to both committees confirming he and his agent Noel Kelly will be available next week.

In a letter through his solicitor's firm, the committees have been told: "I am writing to you on behalf of our clients, Ryan Tubridy and Noel Kelly, in relation to your Committee’s investigation into RTE expenditure and governance issues.

"Mr Kelly and Mr Tubridy wish to fully cooperate and assist with your Committee in its examination of these issues and clarify a number of matters that have arisen.

"Both Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly kindly request to meet with your Committee at a suitable time next week.

"They would welcome this opportunity to set out their position on these matters and then submit themselves to appropriate questioning from members of the Committee on what are clearly matters of public interest.

"We will prepare a booklet of relevant documents which can be shared with the Committee in advance of our attendance. We look forward to hearing from you."

The next phase in the developing drama will see RTE executives back before the Media Committee in the Dail on Wednesday afternoon for further questioning.
