Russian overnight attack on Ukraine kills four as US and Russia envoys hold peace talks

Russian overnight bombing killed at least four people and injured 19 across Ukraine in the past 24 hours, regional authorities reported.

Russia launched one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 97 drones from positions in Rostov, Kursk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and occupied Crimea, according to Ukraine's Air Force.

Ukrainian air defences intercepted 75 drones while another 19 hit eight locations across the country.

In the northeastern Kharkiv region town of Izium, Ukrainian rescue services recovered the bodies of two people from rubble after their building collapsed on Saturday.

Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said two people had been injured and many homes across the region, as well as a residential building, had been damaged.

One person was killed, and four people were injured in the eastern region of Donetsk, authorities reported.

In the Kherson region, seven people were injured as a result of Russian attacks, including damage to private homes, four multi-storey buildings, an administrative building and a gas pipeline.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a social media post that Russia has launched approximately 1,300 attack drones, nearly 1,200 guided aerial bombs and nine missiles in the past week alone.

Odesa region was particularly badly hit, with its port, transport and industrial facilities targeted, according to Oleh Kiper, head of Odesa Oblast military administration.

The attacks came as US and Russian envoys held talks in Miami aimed at ending Russia's nearly four-year full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
