Ashwin also excelled with the bat in the first innings, scoring his sixth Test century.

Along with Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin rescued India on the opening day, propelling them to a total of 376.

For his outstanding contributions, Ashwin was awarded the Player of the Match.

The focus now shifts to Kanpur, where the second Test match is scheduled to take place from September 27.

With a 1-0 lead in the series, India will be the favorites heading into the second game.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have never managed to defeat India in a Test match.
