Rio Ferdinand names three reasons why Marcus Rashford will come good for Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand has backed Marcus Rashford to enjoy a successful season at Manchester United.

The attacker looked bereft of confidence last term amid the club’s struggles and was criticised for looking disinterested and forlorn. However, he looks to have rediscovered his form in pre-season under Erik ten Hag.

It is the first time for a number of years that Rashford has enjoyed an injury-free summer, which has allowed for a beneficial pre-season. These are two of the three reasons Ferdinand outlined when explaining why he thinks the forward will thrive during the new campaign.

Ferdinand also thinks Ten Hag's appointment is a good thing for Rashford. Speaking on YouTube show FIVE, Ferdinand admitted that the player’s body language indicated that he didn’t seem happy last season, but that this has now changed.

He said: “This season, he’s going to be happier. He’s had a pre-season, no injuries and there’s a manager here - from what I’m seeing him talk about - that says, ‘you know what? I’m believing him and what he’s saying’. If those three things play out this season, Marcus Rashford will come good this season."

Ferdinand added: “Marcus, shut these people us please, shut everyone up, I don’t want to hear no chat from these people. I want you to come back, you’ve had a pre-season, you’ve got no injuries now, blast up the Premier League, please, I don’t want to hear no chat.”
