Ridvan Yilmaz ends Rangers transfer talk as he discusses Ibrox future

RANGERS star Rıdvan Yılmaz has ended transfer speculation linking him with a return to Turkey by insisting he has no intention of quitting Ibrox.

The Turkish international left back has had an underwhelming start to his career in Glasgow since joining for a reported £4 million in the summer from Besiktas.

He's started just two league games and has been unable to dislodge first choice Borna Barisic under axed manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Yilmaz has been heavily linked with a quickfire return to his homeland with former clubs Besiktas and Galatasaray both reportedly interested in him.

But he's now made clear in Turkish media that he has no intention of leaving Rangers and sees the move as a long-term project.

He said: "I want to play in the top leagues in Europe until the age of 28 or 29 at least and prove myself.

"So I have no intention of returning to Turkish football right now."

Yilmaz, who signed a five-year deal when he joined in July, will now try and impress the new manager when the league resumes next month.
