Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said some pretty wild and inaccurate things in the past but he may have surpassed even himself this time with his bizarre and frankly quite weird tribute to Charlie Kirk.
Speaking to a crowd of mourners at a prayer vigil paying tribute to the late podcast host, the health secretary claimed to have met Kirk in July of 2001, supposedly appearing on his podcast. He also told the crowd that he and Kirk became very close by the end of their first meeting. But there’s just one problem with RFK Jr.’s statement, Charlie Kirk would have been about seven years old at the time.
“I met Charlie for the first time in July of 2001. I went on his podcast, and I think we approached each other with a lot of trepidation at that time,” Kennedy Jr. claims, “by the end of the podcast, we were soulmates. We were spiritual brothers.”
RFK Jr. says he first met Charlie Kirk in July 2001 when he appeared on his podcast, and that they immediately became “soul mates” and “spiritual brothers.”

That’s definitely a dodgy statement and blatantly untrue. However, it is somewhat telling of Kennedy Jr.’s current state of mind. As expected, it is about as mushy as Donald Trump’s, color me not surprised. When will we learn to stop voting for old men who don’t even know what day or even year it is?
RFK Jr. doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Obviously it seems like the health secretary had a bit of a brain fart during his speech and simply said the wrong year. Considering Kirk’s age and the fact that podcasts weren’t really a thing back then it’s almost certain he was actually referring to his appearance on Kirk’s podcast which took place in July of 2021.
It may seem like a seemingly small slip up, however, it’s cause for concern amongst many in the U.S., especially when you factor in the fact that this man is the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. Can we trust this man if he thinks 2001 was four years ago?
Many online don’t think so. “That’s not a soulmate story, it’s a straight-up hallucination.” Wrote someone on X, “RFK Jr’s grasp on reality as robust as ever.” joked another.
Others made implicit digs at the health secretary inadvertently admitting to being “soulmates” with a child with one person writing, “Kirk being a literally child, and RFK saying he knew then Kirk was his soul mate….tracks with his Epstein connections as well.” But considering Trump seems to have successfully buried the Epstein list, I guess we’ll never know.
Rather than to serve as a send-off for Kirk, RFK Jr.’s speech ultimately led to confusion and a whole lot of trolling online. Does anyone really think he should be trusted overseeing the health department for the U.S.?
