Real Housewives of Cheshire's Dawn Ward issues statement following 'harrowing' trial

Real Housewives of Cheshire's Dawn Ward says she doesn't think she'll 'ever truly get over' being put on trial. She was cleared of racially abusing and slapping a Jewish man at London Euston in October 2019.

The 48-year-old, who is married to ex-Premier League footballer Ashley Ward, also stood trial for cocaine possession. Ms Ward denied the charges and was acquitted by a jury of two counts of racially aggravated harassment and one count of possession of cocaine on Friday (March 25).

At the trial at Inner London Crown Court, she vehemently denied she was a racist and said that 'she doesn’t see race', Cheshire Live reports.

This morning, (Saturday), she issued a statement on social media thanking her supporters. She said she has been left devastated by the experience. Ms Ward said: “After the most stressful and traumatic period of my life I would like to thank all those people who have supported me and lifted my morale when I was truly and utterly flattened.

“The messages of support have honestly helped keep me strong throughout this harrowing ordeal. I have some truly amazing friends and family, of differing race and religions, who have supported me without question and for all of them I will be eternally grateful.

“I was found not guilty by 12 random, conscientious, jurors who left no stone unturned in their efforts to deliver justice. My barrister Lisa judge [sic] will forever be my hero, not only the best barrister you could ever imagine but also a wonderful human being.

“I am still prone to tears and am crying as I write this post. I don’t believe I will ever truly get over this.

“I never thought I could love my husband any more than I already did but after this support this last two weeks I love you more than ever - you have been my rock and I couldn’t have got through this without you, Darby, Taylor, Charlier, Aston, Mike, Riyad, Josie and Auntie Elaine.

“Anybody who remotely knows me knows I stand for equality of race, religion and sexuality and I will continue to live my life to these values and raise my children to do the same x."
