A young fan allegedly raped by a British YouTuber and musician after a gig was an enthusiastic and willing participant when the sex started, a court has been told.
Rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, is fighting six charges of sexually penetrating a 20-year-old woman without consent in a Perth hotel room in September 2024.
The 30-year-old also denies impeding the woman's breathing by applying pressure to her neck and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Prosecutors say he bit, hit, choked and raped the woman after the pair had consensual sex, leaving her with significant bruising and visible bite marks on her skin.
In closing submissions, defence lawyer David Edwardson KC said the woman went to the hotel "of her own free will", and she was happy to have sex with Barrientos.
"She was an enthusiastic and willing participant when the sex act started," Mr Edwardson told the West Australian District Court jury on Tuesday.
Mr Edwardson attacked prosecution claims the woman had been a victim of a powerful man, who took her phone away and didn't ask her if she wanted to have sex.
"This notion of a so-called power imbalance ... this notion he somehow had a responsibility to ask her before each sex act performed … is nonsense," he said.
"She was an adult, and she was perfectly capable of making her own decisions about what she would and wouldn't do."
The prosecution case was problematic, and the evidence does not support the charges, Mr Edwardson said.
"When you strip this case back to its basics, the state case rises and falls on the reliability of the complainant," he said.
"We say (the woman's) evidence is riddled with inconsistencies, embellishments and outright lies."
Mr Edwardson was also critical of the prosecution's expert medical evidence, saying it failed to establish the woman was sexually assaulted.
He said it was incomplete and could not rule out that the significant bruising suffered by the woman was caused by "love bites" and not slapping and choking.
The police investigation was also a deeply troubling feature of the case, Mr Edwardson said.
"It has nothing to do with (the woman); it is about what the state chose not to find," he said.
Investigators failed to follow up key evidence, such as who the woman was calling as she left the hotel, as recorded on CCTV.
Mr Edwardson also questioned why police had not taken a statement from the Uber driver who took her home, and the woman's missing phone call evidence.
The alleged victim also didn't mention being raped in the hours after the incident, he said.
A series of videos she recorded only mentioned the rapper biting her, which he has admitted to during the trial.
Prosecutor Danielle Clarke framed Barrientos as an "entitled man" with a "moderate degree of fame", who was sexually violent towards an impressionable young woman.
"She meant nothing to him," she said.
"What could have been and should have been consensual sex quickly escalated into sexual violence and a non-consensual nightmare."
Ms Clarke said the woman consented to going back to the entertainer's hotel room but that did not mean "she was going to do anything that the accused wanted".
"When you consider the little time he spent with her ... before he started biting, slapping and strangling her ... the state says he simply did not care," Ms Clarke said.
"It did not matter what she was wearing or how famous, important or entitled (Barrientos) perceived himself to be.
"Everyone has the right to say no, and she certainly did not want to engage in sexual acts with him that involved violence and brutality."
Ms Clarke cast the woman as an open and honest witness.
But Barrientos had been evasive, unresponsive and tried to hide behind the term "love bite" as a means of explaining the injuries the complainant allegedly suffered, she said.
