Rangers transfer target Olwethu Makhanya has reportedly failed to return to Philadelphia Union training after the World Cup.
The centre-back was shortlisted as a possible summer acquisition for Rangers.
Makhanya, 22, had represented South Africa at the World Cup but has failed to return to his MLS club after the tournament, according to reports.
The Athletic journalist Tom Bogert reports that Makhanya now wants to leave Philadelphia Union.
It's claimed the defender believes the club have broken promises, relating to sanctioning a transfer to Europe.

The club reportedly knocked back a transfer approach from a Belgian club, while Rangers' interest did not advance beyond the Ibrox club reaching out to Union and the player's representatives.
It's thought Philadelphia Union viewed the agreement with the player to be: "if an offer makes sense, we'll do it" with the value not met by bids this summer.
Rangers have added Ben Godfrey to their defensive options this summer.
John Souttar is expected to leave the club with interest in England.
