Rangers legend desperate for Ibrox reunion as he reveals snubbing potential return

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson says he's eager for a return to Ibrox - but doesn't know when it'll happen after turning down a previous chance.

The former Scotland international resigned from his post as manager of League One club Alloa Athletic on Monday after a calamitous season.

Taking over a side who had found themselves in League One following relegation from the Championship, Alloa were expected to push for promotion.

But they find themselves eighth and Ferguson has walked following a defeat to basement club East Fife. He joined the Wasps last summer after a spell at Kelty Hearts.

Ferguson became a legend over two spells at Ibrox and turned down the chance to return as a coach under Pedro Caixinha's reign as boss.

Now the Hamilton-born man says he would return to Rangers in any capacity given to him.

He told Go Radio: "I don't care what level it is, whether it's 11-year-olds or a seasoned pro, at some stage I would love to get back to Rangers.

"There's no doubt about it but it's not happened for a number of reasons. It's still my club and I'll support them. I watch them, I hope they win every single game they play in.

"I was in for talks when Caixinha was there. I had a meeting. And I just felt it wasn't going to work. He had totally different ideas and you've got to respect that. He was asking me about different sides of the game in Scotland."
