Rangers in advanced talks to sign Luton midfielder amid Nasser Djiga update

Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Luton Town's Thelo Aasgaard, according to The Rangers Review

Although predominantly a central midfielder, the 23-year-old can operate across multiple positions.

He joined Luton in January from Wigan Athletic, but after the London club's relegation from the English Championship to League One, he is set to move on this summer.

Talks to bring Aasgaard to Ibrox are said to be at an advanced stage, with the player likely to be unveiled in the coming days.

Rangers are also leading the chase to sign Nasser Djiga, who will be allowed to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan this summer.

The central defender joined the English Premier League side from Red Star at the end of the January transfer window but has struggled for minutes since.

Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell face stiff competition for the talented 22-year-old, with a move for Aasgaard expected to be completed first.

It comes after Rangers confirmed the acquisitions of both Joe Rothwell and Emmanuel Fernandez on Wednesday.

Midfielder Rothwell, who worked under Martin at Southampton for a brief spell, penned a three-year contract. Fernandez, meanwhile, made the switch from Peterborough in a deal that could be worth over £3 million.

Rangers are moving quickly to carry out their transfer business, with a crucial Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos on the horizon in just under three weeks.
