Rajasthan: 3 die in rain related mishaps in Kota

JAIPUR/ALWAR/KOTA: Hail storm, dust storm at a speed of almost 70 kms/hour and rainfall during early hours on Tuesday created a mayhem across the state as three persons were killed and 14 others were injured in rain related mishaps in Kota. Many districts and its villages also witnessed abrupt power cuts due to the broken electricity lines at many places.

Hail storm, dust storm and rainfall that started on Monday evening continued till Tuesday morning.

According to the police, a 32-year-old man on a motorbike was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while he was driving in the dark and dense area near Mandi road of Ramganj Mandi town in Kota district. “It was dark all around and it appears that his bike hit some pot hole and later he lost balance and was hit by an unidentified vehicle,” said a police officer.

In another incident at Nayapura area of Kota a man was severely injured after a tree in a garden fell down on him. “He succumbed to the injuries in the hospital,” the police said. Likewise a 21-year-old youth identified as Sonu alias Golu sustained injuries after a wall of his kaccha house collapsed over him at Pratap Colony in Kota city.

Meanwhile 14 others including two minors were injured in rain related mishaps at Borkheda area of Kota and in separate places of Bundi district. In Jaipur too several trees got uprooted and fell on vehicles parked in the open. Many localities in the city witnessed power cuts starting from 1 am, which could only be restored at 6 am in the city.

Meanwhile the change in weather conditions since Monday guided the mercury to take a dip as the majority of the places witnessed a pleasant morning on Tuesday. Phalodi remained hottest in the state with a maximum recorded temperature of 43.0 °C. In Jaipur a maximum temperature of 34.3 °C was recorded.

In its forecast Jaipur Met office stated that mild showers and dust storms are likely to occur at many places in the Kota division while in the rest of the state weather would mainly remain dry.
