Queen honoured for work promoting literacy

  • Queen Camilla was made an honorary freeman and liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers.
  • The honour recognises her extensive work in promoting literacy and reading, including her charity The Queen’s Reading Room and the Coronation Libraries project.
  • During an historic ceremony at Stationers’ Hall in London, she was presented with the company’s traditional livery gown by Master Doug Wills.
  • The Queen met young journalists and students, including those supported by the Stationers’ Company, and learned about their careers and the company's charitable work.
  • She also viewed the company’s historic copyright registers, including the 1623 entry for William Shakespeare’s First Folio.
