Queen Camilla's naughty side - from cracking 'risqué jokes' to sneaking a 'crafty fag'

Several member of the Royal Family are known for their love of a good knees up.

And Queen Camilla is no different. Behind closed doors, the down-to-earth royal is famous for her 'naughty' streak, reportedly having a penchant for 'risqué jokes' and 'crafty fags'.

The 75-year-old was a smoker for three decades and royal author Tina Brown once claimed that Camilla used to make "festive escapes" to her Wiltshire home to indulge her vice.

There, she "could loll around" and enjoy a cigarette "without furtively smoking up the chimney" - which it's claimed she did when Charles was home.

Jeremy Clarkson recently admitted that he snuck away for a cigarette with the future Queen in an ITV documentary chronicling her time guest editing Country Life magazine.

He said: "I think we get on very well. Um, we used to go… perhaps I shouldn't say this, but we used to go and sneak a crafty fag round the back of things. But I don't smoke anymore.

"I think she might still sneak a crafty one in occasionally, but you'd have to ask her."

Michael Waldman, who directed the documentary, added: "Clearly she is quite capable, possibly after a glass or two or even without, of having fun, of being informal and a little bit naughty."

One of Camilla's pals, Sarah Troughton, also testified to her cheeky sense of humour and penchant for "risqué and naughty" jokes.

When asked about the types of jokes Camilla liked to tell, Ms Troughton said: "Oh, lots of very risqué, I would say, as well as naughty."

Although Camilla was born into an upper-class family, her close friends and acquaintances have said that she remains down-to-earth.

"I have so many friends who, if I ever even vaguely look like getting uppity, which touch wood I never have, they would just say, 'Look, come on, pull yourself together! Don't be so bloody grand!'" Camilla told the Daily Mail.

According to Vanity Fair, a former flatmate also revealed that her bedroom was a state of chaos.

Meanwhile, Camilla is said to have quit her 10-a-day habit in 2001 after a nasty bout of rhinitis.

"She had a persistent cough which she couldn't shake off," a friend of Camilla told The Daily Mail. "It wasn't connected to her smoking, but she decided it was a good opportunity."

While the new Queen has given up her smoking habit, it's known that she's always been a fan of a strong beverage.

In 1998, after meeting 16-year-old Prince William for the first time, Camilla reportedly declared: "I really need a gin and tonic."

She is also the president of the UK's Vineyard Association and Charles said she is a "great wine enthusiast".

Camilla once said: "People always ask me how I became involved in it all, well, first of all, I love wine, but secondly, my father was in the wine business, so I was brought up as a child drinking wine and water rather like the French."
