PUNE: As many as 8,086 people recovered from Covid-19 in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Thursday as compared to 4,149 new cases. Besides, 18 more individuals succumbed to the infection in the region in the last 24 hours, taking its toll to 19,520 so far.
The Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal areas recorded twice as many recoveries as new additions on Thursday. As many as 4,136 patients were discharged in the PMC limits as against 2,141 new cases. Similarly, in the Pimpri Chinchwad area, as many as 2,383 patients were declared cured as against 1,084 new detections.
PMR’s active caseload dropped to 42,755 on Thursday evening, including 40,904 patients in home isolation and 1,851 in hospital care.
Health officials said the region has reported a gradual drop in daily cases since the last week. The cases have dropped in the urban and rural areas. The daily testing has been around 20,000 to 25,000, they said. A report by district health officer stated 23,074 tests were conducted in the region on Thursday.
