Police appeal for information after cars set alight outside Lanarkshire home

Police are appealing for information after two cars were deliberately set alight outside a home in Bellshill on Sunday.

The incident happened around 10.05pm on Rosewood Avenue, and both cars, a Kia Sportage and a Ford Fiesta, were extensively damaged.

Detective Constable Peter King, from Wishaw CID, said: “Thankfully, the fire did not spread to the house, however, as well as completely destroying the cars, it caused damage to a neighbouring vehicle.

“At this time, we have no explanation as to why these two cars, which belonged to the same household, were targeted.

“Officers are looking to identify two men, descriptions unknown, seen running through a path at the end of Rosewood Avenue toward the nearby football park at Bellshill Boys Club Centre soon after the fires were set.

“I would ask anyone who may have seen anyone in this area before or afterwards to get in touch with police.

“If you have any information that may assist our enquiries, please call officers via 101 quoting reference number 3857 of Sunday, 16 April 2023. Alternatively, details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
