'Pokémon' Gen 11 Is Coming Immediately After 'Winds and Waves' Debut, Claims Game Freak Roadmap Leak

"Pokémon Winds and Waves" has not even been released yet, but leaked internal documents suggest Game Freak already has its sights set on the generation that follows.

According to a fresh update on the ongoing leak, Generation 11 already has a rough launch window and early development underway.

Gen 11 'Pokémon' Game Is Coming Immediately After Gen 10

The information traces back to the massive TeraLeak that hit Game Freak last October, which exposed internal documents outlining the studio's roadmap through the rest of the decade.

According to that leaked material, Game Freak has already targeted 2030 as the release window for Pokémon Generation 11, with early prototyping already underway even while Generation 10 remains unfinished.

A translated excerpt from the leaked documents reportedly reads, "We are currently developing Gaia (Gen 10), but alongside that, we're also moving forward with early prototyping for Gen 11, the next numbered title planned for release in 2030."

According to the same excerpt, a mixed team pulled from the R&D Department and the Concept & Visual Studio was set to officially launch that year, with key members expected to work concurrently across both the Gen 10 and Gen 11 teams.

Game Freak's Roadmap For 'Pokémon' Leaks Online

Centro Leaks, the account behind much of the reporting on this material, has continued sharing pieces of the broader roadmap document since it first surfaced. Beyond Gen 11, the leaked schedule also details "Pokémon Legends: Galar," reportedly set 1,000 years in the past and centered around creating the first Gigamax Poké Ball, targeted for a 2027 or later release.

The documents also reference a separate project internally codenamed Project Seed, described as the franchise's first multi-region game, letting players travel seamlessly between regions like Sinnoh and Hoenn while including areas like Kitakami from "Scarlet and Violet's" DLC.

That project is reportedly aimed at a 2028 release window or later, slotting in between "Legends: Galar" and Gen 11 on Game Freak's broader timeline.

'Pokémon Winds and Waves' Is Set For Next Year

"Pokémon Winds and Waves" itself, internally codenamed Gaia, represents Generation 10 and is officially set for release in 2027. The games were revealed during the Pokémon Day 2026 Presents livestream, confirmed as the first mainline entries since "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet" launched back in 2022.

The three starters have already been revealed as Browt, a Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon, Pombon, a Fire-type Puppy Pokémon, and Gecqua, a Water-type Water Gecko Pokémon, following the franchise's traditional grass, fire, and water starter formula.

Leaked material claims their final evolutions carry dual typings, with Browt becoming Grass/Ground, Pombon becoming Fire/Fairy while staying a quadrupedal, lion-like design, and Gecqua becoming Water/Psychic. However, none of these evolved forms have been officially confirmed yet.

If the leaked 2030 target for Gen 11 holds up, it would mark one of the shorter gaps between mainline Pokémon generations in the franchise's recent history. This is something that GameRant noted stands in contrast to frequent fan criticism over how quickly Game Freak has pushed out new entries in past years.

As with any leaked internal roadmap, none of this information has been confirmed by The Pokémon Company or Game Freak, and development plans could still shift well before either "Winds and Waves" or any future Gen 11 title actually reaches players.
