Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has entered the NBA's concussion protocol following an incident during Sunday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Maxey collided with Derrick Jones Jr., resulting in a head injury that forced him to leave the court in the third quarter. Despite returning to the game and finishing with an impressive 24 points in 39 minutes, Maxey's health became a concern.

Head coach Nick Nurse confirmed the concussion diagnosis on Tuesday, describing it as 'delayed and mild.' As a result, Maxey was unable to participate in the Sixers' subsequent game against the Brooklyn Nets, which ended in a 112-107 loss for Philadelphia.

Under the league's concussion protocol, Maxey must pass a series of steps to ensure he is symptom-free before he can resume basketball activities. This precaution is crucial for his well-being and long-term health.

The 23-year-old guard has been a standout performer for the Sixers this season, averaging an impressive 26 points and 6.3 assists per game. His contributions have been instrumental in keeping the team competitive, especially in the absence of star player Joel Embiid, who is expected to return later in the season.

Philadelphia currently holds a record of 35-25, positioning them one game ahead of the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Maxey's recovery and eventual return to the court will be closely monitored by the team as they strive to maintain their playoff aspirations and continue their strong performance throughout the season.
