Peter Kay tour tickets hit £1,800 as comic's fans slam resale 'parasites'

Peter Kay fans weren’t laughing tonight as tour tickets were being offered for up to £1,800.

Around 1.5 million seats priced from as low as £35 to £150, as Kay wanted to recognise the cost of living crisis, went on sale today but many dates sold out in minutes.

Soon afterwards, Manchester tickets were advertised for £1,770 on one resale website, Viagogo. Fan Adrian Thomas tweeted: “2 hours I won’t get back queuing for Peter Kay tickets to find they’re sold out. Yet plenty re-selling for 10 times the price. Scumbags.”

Tim Salmon added: “If you’ve bought tickets and intend seeing Peter Kay then well done. If you plan on selling them for profit then I hope your day ends miserably.”

Comic Jason Manford called Viagogo “parasites”, adding: “Reselling tickets at a profit should be illegal. But we live in a capitalist society with a Tory government, so chances are about the same as getting Peter Kay tickets!”

Reacting to the demand, Kay tweeted: “Absolutely blown away… don’t worry, we’ll have a laugh when we’re all together.”

Around two million queued online for his comeback tour – his first shows in 12 years. After it sold out, more dates were added. The tour – now over 100 nights – starts on December 2. It was due to end next August but will run into 2025.

Viagogo said: “After 12 years away, the high demand for Peter’s shows is to be expected but it’s important to note that once the initial excitement settles, so too will the market and prices.”
