CHANDIGARH: Punjab's leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party-led state government for its "failure" to provide adequate aid to the flood victims in Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur districts.
Criticising Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann for publicly insulting cabinet minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Bajwa said that the arrogance of the CM can be gauged from the incident in which he did not even tolerate a minor interruption from his cabinet minister and forced him to fold his hands in full public view.
"The entire cabinet of the AAP government seems to have been scared of such obnoxious behaviour of CM, that's why Jimpa folded his hands to avoid escalation of the situation. The episode also shows how rude the CM's conduct is to his cabinet colleagues," Bajwa added. “Despite multiple assurances, the victims of the flood-affected area remained deprived of help from the AAP administration. Once again, it was local communities and organisations, who came forward to rescue the victim," said Bajwa
"During his visit to the flood-affected villages of Tanda, Dasuya and Mukerian subdivisions of the Hoshiarpur district, the CM failed to placate the residents and had to face the wrath of the villagers because of insufficient arrangements from the government", Bajwa added.
In a statement, Bajwa said that the people were expecting the CM to announce a relief package, and all the CM had to offer was mere lip service. "As usual, he remained busy with photo opportunities and sugarcoated statements," he added.
