Pedestrian taken to hospital after being knocked down in North Tyneside

Police have confirmed that a pedestrian was taken to hospital after a road traffic collision in North Tyneside on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews attended the scene of the collision shortly before 2pm on South Parade in Whitley Bay on Saturday (May 7). where an older pedestrian was knocked down. They were taken to Cramlington Hospital for further treatment on their injuries. Their condition is currently unknown.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 13:54 on Saturday to a road traffic collision on South Parade in Whitley Bay involving an elderly pedestrian and a vehicle.

"We sent an emergency ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, a rapid response paramedic and a clinical team leader. We took the patient to Cramlington Hospital for treatment for their injuries."

Northumbria Police also attended the incident and has launched enquiries into the incident.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm we attended scene of an RTC on South Parade I’m Whitley Bay yesterday just after 3pm. Enquiries are ongoing."
