Paddy McGuinness gives fans 'anxiety' over honest insight into home life with ex-Christine as she takes break after family holiday

Paddy McGuinness gave a candid glimpse into his home life with his ex-Christine McGuinness a week after they jetted back from a family holiday.

The former couple, who announced in July last year that they had split after 15 years together, jetted off to Spain for a family getaway with Christine, their three children - twins Penelope and Leo and youngest daughter Felicity - and Christine's mum.

After returning from their five-day break together, Paddy took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes look at the family trip whilst sharing how 'proud' he and Christine are of their children, who were all diagnosed with autism before Christine got the same diagnosis at 33.

The 49-year-old told his 2 million Instagram followers: "Back home from a wonderful 5 days away with the kids. We’re so proud of how well they did at the airport, this was the first time they’d been on a plane since 2019. They absolutely loved their holiday.

"Big thanks to the glorious staff at @manairportuk @easyjet @jet2pics and @zafirohotels who helped take some of the stress away. It was also a lovely gesture of Jet2 to let myself and Brendan Rodgers fly the plane home."

Fans were quick to praise the couple for their co-parenting and for raising awareness of the 'sunflower lanyard' - a discreet sign that shows that the wearer has a hidden disability and may need additional support.

The family have since been getting back into the flow of normal life and on Sunday (May 21), Paddy took to Instagram again but this time he shared a snap of the living room of the Cheshire home he still shares with Christine.

"Weekend done! Kids in bed, time to sort this s**t storm out!" he typed, referring to the pens all over the grey carpet and kid's toys laying around. But fans loved seeing the reality of Paddy's home life.

@kirsty0982 replied: "It's a lived in living room . At least you know they have had a good day ." @jo_brownlee said: "Sign of a fun weekend." @thelma.146 posted: "Been there done that ...but bet they had fun

@xcrazygal1986x shared: "@mcguinness.paddy as long as the kids had a great time, the mess is worth it!! Hope you and your beautiful family are well and happy."

But the pens on the carpet really proved to be a sticking point with his followers. @louisetintin said: "Nooooooo, pens on the carpet wtf lol." @hooleysoutheast commented: "Oooh... just got anxious seeing the crayons and pencils on the carpet."

@bettanywright shared: "OMG the felt tips on the carpet are giving me anxiety." @deborahdoesdictiona added: "The coloured pens on the carpet are giving me all kinds of anxiety."

Paddy also later gave fans a glimpse of his 'night in'. Sharing a picture of his plate, he wrote: "Toasted @moderbaker_superloaf with @marksandspencer Chicken Rillette. HEAVEN!!!!" He also added: "Night In In," at the top of the snap which is usually used for the opposite reason for 'going out out'.

The post came before Christine announced she was taking a break. The model said she was unsure about making the 'announcement' as she shared how she was going to enjoy a digital detox.

She took to Instagram on Monday morning (May 22) with a string of candid snaps of her getting ready. Christine, 35, was beaming in the different snaps, with some showing her posing in the mirror in an ab-baring white top while others showed her putting on her make-up.

But one thing that featured heavily was her phone and Christine has made a decision to change that. Posting to her hundreds of thousands of followers, the mum-of-three typed: "Time for a little digital detox. In a world of algorithms, hashtags and followers, I really want to embrace the true importance of human connection and go back to basics for a bit."

She then added before the comments came flooding in: "P.S.. Im not really sure what I think about the whole ‘social media silence’ announcement thing but I have lots of lovely followers on here who check in on me daily and I don’t want to worry anyone whilst I have a little quiet time."

Christine, who recently got back from a special family holiday with her ex-husband Paddy and their three children, added: "I am very happy and healthy, I’m just ready to embrace switching off, being present and living low key for a while."
