It’s literally been a little over 24 hours since insiders claimed that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have broken up and the Pirates of the Caribbean star has already been shipped with another star – aka Kim Kardashian.
So, why is everyone suddenly frothing over these pics of Orlando Bloom and Kim Kardashian in Venice? Let’s break it down without getting too carried away, because honestly, the internet is already doing the most.
Here’s the sitch: Orlando Bloom, fresh off the press from his split with Katy Perry (yes, it’s actually over this time, according to insiders speaking to multiple publications), rocked up to Venice for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding. And who else was there? Kim Kardashian of course, because where there’s a high-profile wedding, there’s a Kardashian.
Now, the Daily Mail scored the shots that set the rumour mill spinning: Orlando and Kim greeting each other with air kisses and hugs at the Gritti Palace hotel.
Orlando was in full “I’m single and thriving” mode, rocking a black muscle tank and gym shorts, while Kim was serving her usual Balenciaga realness, sunglasses and all.
It’s not just the timing that’s got everyone talking. Let’s not forget the viral moment from last year’s New York Fashion Week, when Orlando was caught on camera giving Kim’s famous backside a not-so-subtle glance, all while standing next to then-fiancée Katy Perry.
When asked about it on the Elvis Duran Show, Katy’s response was peak chill: “I approve.”
Back to Venice: the pics show Orlando and Kim laughing, chatting, and even what looked like Kim giving Orlando a cheeky finger wag.
Khloé Kardashian and Kris Jenner were also in the mix, because why have one Kardashian when you can have the whole set?
Katy Perry, meanwhile, is busy touring Australia and, according to sources, is less than thrilled about Orlando attending the wedding solo, especially since she considers Bezos and Sánchez more her mates than his.
The news of Katy and Orlando’s breakup was confirmed by insiders close to the couple at Us Weekly.
A source close to the pair told the publication, “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
So there you have it: although Orlando and Katy are over, there’s no evidence of anything more than a warm greeting and some playful banter between Kim and Orlando. But when you’re both single and standing within two metres of each other, apparently that’s all it takes to break the internet these days.
