NT Police investigate a suspicious death in Mutitjulu, near Uluru in Central Australia

Northern Territory police say they are are investigating the suspicious death of a man in Central Australia.

About 9:10am on Saturday morning, officers responded to reports of an aggravated assault at the remote community of Mutitjulu in the Macdonnell region, NT Police said.

A man involved in the alleged incident was taken to the local clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

The man's death is being treated as suspicious and the area has been cordoned off and declared a crime scene, police said.

Detectives from the Southern Criminal Investigation Branch are on the ground investigating the death.
