NSW Police Are Investigating After $8000 Pokémon Card Was Stolen In Trade-Off Gone Wrong

Police are appealing for information after a Pokémon card trade went wrong last month, with a man being assaulted and his prized Pokémon card worth $8000 being stolen. I’m no Detective Pikachu, but I hope the NSW police have done their due diligence and checked in on Team Rocket.

On March 28, a 38-year-old man — who has not been identified by police — arranged to sell the rare collectable in a car park in Warilla, in NSW’s Shellharbour.

After meeting up with the prospective buyer at around 10:45pm, the man alleges that he was assaulted by a man who masqueraded as the buyer.

The 38-year-old man reported the incident to the police. Now, detectives in the Lake Illawarra Police District have come together to form Strike Force Calmar in the hopes of finding out more information about the alleged incident.

As part of that investigation, police have released an image of a car seen in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

Police have described the vehicle as a red 2023-model Ford Mustang with grey stripes and believe that the driver may be able to help police with their enquiries into the incident.

Gotta catch ’em all, I guess. (Image: NSW Police)

Anyone with information about the missing Pokémon card, the incident or the car above has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

So, as NSW Police said on their very own post, “don’t just sit there like a Snorlax” if you know anything.
