ChatGPT is now available on Slack. OpenAI is rolling out two new ways for users to integrate ChatGPT with Slack to make workplace communication smarter and more efficient. The rollout includes a ChatGPT app for Slack and a ChatGPT connector, both available for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise/Edu users.
The ChatGPT app for Slack allows users to chat one-on-one with ChatGPT directly from a dedicated sidebar within Slack. This means you will now be able to ask questions, summarise threads, or draft replies with ChatGPT directly inside Slack. Plus, the best part is that the conversation started in Slack also appears in the ChatGPT sidebar, which means you can continue the discussion seamlessly. Apart from that, Slack customers on Business Plus and Enterprise Plus plans can access semantic search, while other plans use traditional keyword search.
On the other hand, ChatGPT connectors bring context from Slack channels and direct messages into ChatGPT. This makes ChatGPT responses more relevant and useful for Slack users. The connector is available in chat, Deep research, and agent mode, and can be enabled via settings > apps and connectors.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that both the app and connector require a paid Slack account, and workspace installation may vary depending on Slack settings. And users are also advised to enable the connector before installing the Slack app.
