Nottingham Forest sent 'fantastic' message after Brennan Johnson transfer decision made

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has praised Steve Cooper's decision to block any transfer approaches for Brennan Johnson in January.

The winger has been in sensational form for Nottingham Forest this season and courted Premier League interest a few of months ago. He scored his 12th and 13th goals for the campaign in the 4-1 thrashing of Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.

That win has strengthened Forest's bid to finish in a play-off position as Cooper's men gear up for the business end to the season. And Morrison claims that keeping Johnson was an important decision to take to boost the Reds' chances of promotion.

Morrison said on Quest TV: "He’s a top player. Knowing people at Forest, there were a lot of Premier League clubs after him. You have to credit Steve Cooper because he’s going to have told the board that they need to keep Brennan.

"He’s got all the ability you want. He makes the first goal for Zinckernagel, the second is a fantastic finish. He makes it look so easy. Everything he does, it’s just natural. He slows it down, and the finish [for the third goal] is brilliant.

Morrison added: "He’s still a youngster, he’s still learning, but he is fantastic. I have high hopes for him."
