Nottingham Forest dealt major injury blow ahead of season run-in

Nottingham Forest have been dealt another injury blow ahead of the season’s run-in, with striker Keinan Davis set for a spell on the sidelines.

The front man was forced off with a hamstring problem in the Reds’ 1-0 defeat at Luton Town on Friday. And he is now expected to be out of action at a crucial time, with Steve Cooper’s side fighting to secure a top-six finish.

Davis is understood to be likely to be absent for about four to five weeks. The Aston Villa loanee is understood to be likely to miss the six remaining games of the normal campaign, but could be back for the Championship play-offs should Forest be in them.

The front man has been a key player for the Reds since joining the club in January. He has netted five goals in 19 appearances.

Forest are also without fellow forward Lewis Grabban for their clash with West Bromwich Albion this evening. He is understood to be absent due to illness.

There is better news for Cooper on the defensive front, though. Like Davis, Scott McKenna was substituted with hamstring trouble against the Hatters.

However, he gets the green light to start against the Baggies. And there is a return, on the bench, for fellow centre-back Steve Cook, who has been sidelined with an ankle problem.

Forest go into the game looking to get back to winning ways after defeat at Kenilworth Road. Their 1-0 reverse brought an end to a five-match winning streak in the league.
