Newcastle United 'agree fee' with West Ham United for Harrison Ashby

Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign West Ham United youngster Harrison Ashby, according to reports. Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth claims the Magpies have agreed a fee in the region of £3million including add-ons.

The Hammers have reportedly inserted a sell-on clause into the deal with the Scotland youth international on his way to Tyneside for a medical. David Moyes' side look to have finally given the green light for Ashby to move to St. James' Park having rejected a move in the summer.

Eddie Howe and his side made an approach to sign the youngster on deadline day in the summer. The young defender is out of contract in the summer, having been on the fringes of the Hammers first-team of late.

Newcastle are understood to view the young defender as a future contender for the right-back slot. Kieran Trippier's fine displays since arriving at St. James' Park have made him the man to usurp, with those at St. James' Park struggling to displace the England international.

Trippier recently penned an extension on his current deal, keeping him at St. James' Park until the summer of 2025. Ashby's arrival would take Newcastle's January additions up to three, with Garang Kuol arriving on the opening day of the window and Anthony Gordon becoming the first big money signing of January.
