Newcastle's Hard Rock Cafe to host 'first' standing music gig

Singer-songwiter Jamie Lee Harrison is to serve up a night of entertainment at a quayside restaurant which will become a full-on music venue for the night.

The Britain's Got Talent star who first performed at Hard Rock Cafe in Newcastle during its launch last summer will be back there for a headline slot in November. The restaurant, which likes to host live music, is this time to be turned into a standing venue for the night when Jamie, who is known for his 'from the heart' songwriting, will be showcasing his newest material to fans.

And the Newcastle-born singer, who lives in Gateshead, is delighted to have the chance to host a unique show at the restaurant. "I am so grateful to the team at Hard Rock Cafe for letting me close their venue, remove tables and bring in a stage for the night!" he said.

"Hopefully this is the start of many original concerts at their venue. I can't wait to perform my new material with the band in such brilliant surroundings."

Jamie, who has one million Spotify streams and a BBC Introducing feature under his belt, has enjoyed a sell-out nationwide tour and festival dates - following the pandemic lockdown - which included local opening slots for Ronan Keating at Virgin Money's first socially-distanced arena in Newcastle and for Becky Hill and Joel Corey at Times Square.

Now, following collaborations last year with various writers and producers, he is set to reveal his new single at the end of July, to be followed, he says, by more singles and live shows over coming months.

Other unusual venues he has perfomed at include Newcastle Cathedral and he told his Facebook followers that he is "really buzzing" about his upcoming date at Hard Rock Cafe, adding: "We wanted a cool venue for my next headline show."

Among the comments on Jamie's Facebook page reacting to the news was one from fellow North East singer Channy Thompson who wrote "Soooooo excited for this one!" Others commented "Oooo I want to come!"; "absolutely fantastic" and "luv this guy, his voice is amazing".
