New Livingston Women's signing determined to prove her worth at SWF Championship leaders

New Livingston Women’s signing Charlotte McDougall is determined to prove her worth at the club - but she admits she’s going to have to bide her time.

The centre-back arrives following a successful trial period having last featured for fellow SWF Championship outfit Hutchison Vale.

But while she confessed she’s ‘buzzing’ to sign for the Lionesses she knows she might have to stay patient for opportunities on the park given their lofty league position.

Speaking to the Courier, she said: “I was delighted when the gaffer asked me to come on trial after I left Hutchie and absolutely buzzing to have shown him and and the coaches enough that they offered me a deal.

“The girls have been brilliant all season and they’re top of the league for a reason. Obviously I want to come in and play as much as possible but they’re top of the league - the girls already here have shown they deserve to play and they’ve earned that right.

“I’m determined to work hard and show what I can do in training and when they ask me to step up and play in games then I’m confident I can show that they’ve made the right decision to offer me a deal.”

McDougall, a Hibs youth product, admits it didn't take long for her to realise that Livingston was the place she wanted to be, commenting: "I was honestly quite nervous about coming in but it was pretty obvious from the moment I walked into training that it was a great bunch of people and a very good club.

"Everyone was so welcoming and they made me feel so at ease. I’m just really happy to have signed a deal.

"The set-up at the club is amazing and it's great to see how well supported and backed they are. There's close ties with the men's team and the sponsors - that's not something I've really experienced before and I wanted to be a part of that. Even on Sunday, we had a young girl come over and ask if she can get a photo taken with some of the squad - things like that make you realise what the club is all about."

She's set to line-up against some familiar faces on Sunday as the Lionesses travel to Hutchie Vale but she admits the focus is solely on getting the three points, saying: “They’re scrapping for results to get them out of the bottom two so we know it’s going to be tough for us but we can be confident.

"Scores throughout the league all season have shown anyone can beat anyone so we know we have to be at the top of our game."
