The mAadhaar App will be retired from June 30, 2026, and users are being encouraged to switch to the newly launched Aadhaar App developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). As many Aadhaar holders prepare to make the switch, a common question is whether their old Aadhaar records and details stored in the mAadhaar App will be deleted.
Will your Aadhaar records be erased after the new app launches?
No. The retirement of the mAadhaar App does not affect your Aadhaar database or your Aadhaar number. The app is only a platform used to access Aadhaar-related services.
The government recently launched the new Aadhaar App, a comprehensive digital identity application aimed at strengthening and streamlining Aadhaar-based services for citizens.
Why is the UIDAI replacing the mAadhaar App?
According to the UIDAI, the new Aadhaar App is designed to provide Aadhaar Number Holders (ANHs) with a secure, privacy-first and more convenient way to show, share and verify their identity digitally.
The authority has also announced that the mAadhaar App will be retired from July 1 and has urged users to download the new Aadhaar App for a smoother experience.
As per the UIDAI’s social media post on X (previously known as twitter), “mAadhaar App is retiring tomorrow. Download the Aadhaar App today for a smarter, smoother & simpler experience! mAadhaar App. Now, switch to the new Aadhaar App for a smarter & smoother experience. Download the new Aadhaar App today.”
