Netflix is heading into fall with a dark new Danish crime thriller that already looks like a gripping watch. The streaming service just dropped first-look images for “The Asset,” and from this fresh glimpse alone it’s clear this series is going to dig into loyalty and survival in some potentially unsettling ways.
The series follows an aspiring police cadet who goes undercover as a jeweler to infiltrate a criminal network that has managed to slip past the intelligence service for years. Her mission hinges on befriending the wife of the organization’s ruthless mastermind. Soon, the line between duty and empathy starts to blur.
Anyone who enjoys binge-watching a tense thriller around Halloween will be pleased to know that “The Asset” drops on Netflix on October 27, 2025.

“The Asset” was originally titled “The Legend” (“Legenden” in Danish) during production, but the new name better captures its spy-and-undercover vibe, giving it the feel of a classic espionage thriller.
From the images Netflix shared, we see Clara Dessau in the main role as Tea, getting closer to someone she’s not supposed to. While we probably won’t see a trailer until next month, this first look already suggests it’s going to be a gritty show that tells a twisting story across its six episodes.
If you enjoy crime dramas with undercover mystery and messy, human dilemmas at their core, “The Asset” looks like one to add to your Netflix watchlist.

Along with the first look and release date, we also have an official synopsis: “The Asset revolves around the new intelligence service agent, Tea, who goes undercover to infiltrate a brutal criminal environment that has eluded the grasp of the intelligence service for some time.
“Adopting a completely new identity, Tea must befriend the criminal mastermind’s girlfriend, Ashley, to gather crucial intelligence. But as Tea gets closer to Ashley and witnesses the grim reality of her life within Miran’s controlling and criminal cobweb, doubts emerge about where her loyalties truly lie.”
“The Asset” is directed by Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm (conceptual) and Kasper Barfoed, with a cast that includes Clara Dessau, Maria Cordsen, Afshin Firouzi, Nicolas Bro, Soheil Bavi, Arian Kashef, and Lara Ly Melic Skovgaard.

Sahlstrøm said in a press release: “I was drawn to tell this story because it explores the complexities of identity and loyalty under extreme pressure. Through Tea’s journey, we see how far someone is willing to go to do what they believe is right — also, when the lines between good and evil become blurred.
“I have always wanted to work on a crime series that puts its characters, their development and their relations to each other at the very center of the story. This is precisely what The Asset does.”
From the first look, “The Asset” feels like it could have all the makings of a tense, character-driven thriller. The undercover angle is classic, but the emotional twist of Tea’s bond with the crime boss’s wife gives it something fresh. And stories like these usually make for an engaging binge-watch over a weekend (especially around Halloween).
"The Asset" will launch globally on Netflix on October 27, 2025.
