Neco Williams makes Nottingham Forest prediction ahead of Liverpool reunion

Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams believes that the Reds have something to build upon ahead of a personal reunion with boyhood club Liverpool this weekend.

The 21-year-old joined their academy at the age of six and came through the ranks before breaking into the first team to make 33 appearances for the club before leaving permanently last season for Forest. Williams has been ever-present for Steve Cooper's side this season and showed his defensive versatility by shifting across to left-back for the 0-0 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

That change to the backline, with Serge Aurier returning to the team at right-back in place of Harry Toffolo, resulted in a first away clean sheet and just a second point on their travels of the season. With familiar faces in the form of Jurgen Klopp's side up next for the Wales international, Williams believes they have taken a positive step ahead of another tough test.

"It's a good point away from home, and it's a step in the right direction," Williams told the club's official website. "Brighton are a good team, and it's a tough place to come, but we dug deep, and we got the point.

"We were obviously looking for the three points, but defensively we did our part, and we got the clean sheet which is the main thing, and it's something to build on. We needed to stop conceding goals, and we've been working hard on that, and it's beginning to pay off. It's down to us to stick together and do everything we can to pick up results.

"Our focus has been on getting it right defensively, and from there, we can add the goals, which will come because we're a new team and we're learning more about each other every day. We're getting to know each other on and off the pitch, and as long as we keep building on our relationships, the results and performances will get better.

Looking forward to the weekend, Williams added: "Now we've got to work hard ahead of Liverpool, and all of our focus is on that game."
