National Cinema Day: Scottish cinemas offering tickets for £3 for one day - including Cineworld, Odeon and Vue

Today marks National Cinema Day in the UK, celebrating one of the most popular hobbies there is. Cinemas all over the UK will be taking part in this celebration of everyone's love for films, and some cinemas have even slashed their ticket prices right down so that everyone can take part.

For one day only, on Saturday, September 3, moviegoers can get their hands on tickets for top films for just £3 - which is less than half the price of the average ticket today. Popular cinemas Odeon, Vue and Cineworld will be taking part in the offer, many of which will be showing brand new movies and even 3D/IMAX experiences.

Here's everything you need to know about how you can get involved.

Which cinemas are taking part in National Cinema Day 2022?

Well-loved chain cinemas Odeon, Vue, Cineworld, Showcase and Picturehouse will all be offering £3 movie tickets today. However, there are also some smaller independent cinemas that are also offering the deal.

You can enter your postcode on the National Cinema Day website to find a participating cinema near you.

What films will be included in the offer?

The £3 ticket offer will be available across all screenings - although it may cost more in some cases, for example if you want to sit in a luxury seat. You can catch the latest films such as Jordan Peele's creepy thriller Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya, Marvel favourite Thor: Love and Thunder, and family friendly choices Minions: Rise of Gru and Superpets.

Some classic favourites will also be hitting the screens again. Odeon, Vue and Cineworld will be showing Steven Spielberg's iconic ET: The Extra Terrestrial, with incredible IMAX viewings available at selected Odeons.

There will also be accessible screenings available for anyone who needs subtitled, audio-described or autism-friendly viewings.

How can I get cheap cinema tickets?

Getting your hands on these £3 tickets is simple - just go to your local cinema and book a ticket for any of the films that are showing today. You can also book online, but it's worth noting that some cinemas may charge an additional booking fee for doing so.

What film will you be catching on the big screen this weekend? Let us know in the comments.
