Married dad slammed for 'creepy' message to woman shopping at Trader Joes

A 'creepy' dad has been slammed online after he posted a 'missed connection' advert for a woman he spotted shopping in Trader Joes.

While many of us visit the supermarket simply to stock up on groceries, it seems for one man, it is also a space for him to potentially find a love interest - despite being married and having kids.

The post was slammed online after it was shared from Craigslist - where the man had posted it in the 'Missed Connections' section for Salt Lake City, Utah.

The message said: "I was at the Trader Joe's with my 3 kids. The baby was grumpy and the big kids were asking for everything. You gave me a sympathetic and understanding look.

"I wish I got that kind of empathy from my wife. You were also beautiful with short hair and no bra I was stunned."

Lots of people weren't impressed, with many dubbing the approach 'creepy'. One person joked: "This will have a four part docuseries on Netflix by the end of 2023."

Meanwhile, a woman joked: "This is why I’m glad I have an office job now," while another added: "I just love the assumption that anyone would be interested in Tired Dad with Cranky Kids."

A fourth commented: "Men are so insane. i bet she barely glanced at him and his kids. also why should his wife empathize with him, they’re ur kids!! same kinda man who complains about "babysitting."

Another wrote: "Hilarious. I’ve given so many sympathetic looks but I never thought to look in the missed connections afterwards."

One observer poignantly added: "So much said in so few words," while another speculated: "100% he got caught staring at a woman's chest then had to create some sob backstory to justify it."

"Yeah I can only imagine the looks your wife gives to your cheating ass," joked one person.

Meanwhile one savvy shopper has revealed how she manages to stretch $75 (£60) into ten meals when carrying out her weekly grocery shop at Trader Joes.

Jenn Lueke, who lives in Boston, America, has been teaching TikTok users how to get the most out of their money and reduce food waste.

In her new 'Budget Groceries Series', she takes her followers along on a trip to Trader Joe's where she picks out enough ingredients to make 10 healthy meals packed full of protein and vegetables.

She said: "If you feel like the cost of groceries has gotten completely crazy lately, I have a brand new series that's here to make grocery shopping on a budget a little bit easier.
