Mark Latham Admits To Sexting During Question Time After Explicit Texts Published

Independent NSW MP Mark Latham confessed to sending sexually explicit messages while in parliament, but has denied all allegations of domestic abuse brought against him by ex-partner Natalie Matthews.

Following Tuesday’s bombshell report, in which Matthews accused the former NSW One Nation leader of engaging in a pattern of “sustained abuse” over the course of their almost three-year relationship, Latham has admitted to sending sexual images from the parliament chamber.

Speaking to 2SM with Chris Smith on Wednesday morning, Latham defended his actions, stating his “output as an MP matches up against anyone in the upper house”.

“If you’re sitting there listening to [NSW upper house leader] Penny Sharpe droning on, then a woman that looks like Nathalie Matthews sends you a message, which one would you pay attention to?” Latham asked the radio host.

“I’m guilty of being a human in that regard and male.

“The big news is I have a private life, I had a sex life that I’ve got to say was fantastic.”

Latham went on to say, “If I’m the only person in Australia who in a work environment has engaged in a bit of playful sex talk with their partner, then I’ll buy everyone a lottery ticket tomorrow.”

According to The Daily Telegraph, WhatsApp messages allegedly sent by Latham to Matthews describes himself as “master” and talks about being “very hard”. In other messages, Latham allegedly insists Matthews turn her location tracking on.

In response to the publication of the WhatsApp texts, Latham claimed they were “edited” and rife with “inaccuracies”.

“It’s pretty slap-happy journalism. I don’t know how they publish that stuff, with inaccuracies,” he said on 2SM.

Sharpe told The Australian the allegations about Latham were “very disturbing and frankly disgusting”.

In application documents filed with the NSW Local Court, Matthews claimed Latham pressured her into sexual acts with other individuals, made her participate in depraved acts, and drove his car into her.

Per The Australian, Mathews’ report accuses Letham of “defecating on me before sex and refusing to let me wash, forcing degrading sexual acts, pressuring me to engage in sexual acts with others, demanding I call him ‘master’, telling me I was his property, and repeatedly telling me that my only value to him was for sex to demean and control me”.

Letham has denied these claims and said they were “absolute rubbish” and “comical”.

According to the publication — where Mathews gave permission to be identified — the allegations have been brought to NSW Police, but they have not laid any charges or applied for an order on Mathews’ behalf.

Her case will be heard on July 30, 2025.
