Marco Rose in nightmare Celtic Champions League preparation but Leipzig boss claims he ENJOYED hostile Gladbach return

New RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose endured a nightmare return to his former club ahead of their Champions League double-header with Celtic as he suffered abuse from irate Borussia Monchengladbach fans before they hammered his club. Celtic face the Bundesliga side home and away in their next two games in Group F after their 1-1 draw at Shakhtar Donetsk last week.

Leipzig appointed Rose earlier this month and he faced a hostile return to Monchengladbach, whose fans have never forgiven him for quitting the club for Borussia Dortmund last year. Added to the tension was the fact RB Leipzig are about to appoint Monchengladbach's sports director Max Eberl, who claimed he was retiring with ill health earlier this year, only to announce he would be joining Leipzig.

Rose and Eberl were the subject of offensive chants and banners throughout the ground and the referee threatened to abandon the match if a banner that stated 'a son-of-a-bitch association only hires the sons of a bitch' was not removed. And his afternoon was made worse when Leipzig were thumped 3-0, but Rose shrugged off the uncomfortable abuse after the game.

He stated: "I don’t know if you should give the whole thing a platform by talking about it. I actually really enjoyed being here today, I met a lot of people I like. Those are the things that are important to me. From the day I made my decision, everything else lacked any degree of objectivity. That’s why I have to accept it like that."
