Man City XI vs RB Leipzig: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League game today

Manchester City welcome Kevin De Bruyne back into their starting lineup for tonight’s visit of RB Leipzig in the Champions League, with both Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez on the bench.

A 1-1 draw in Germany left the last-16 tie finely poised ahead of the Etihad Stadium meeting this evening.

Pep Guardiola has a fully-fit squad available for the second leg after Foden bounced back from a foot injury to start in the win over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

But Foden is only a substitute tonight along with first-leg scorer Mahrez.

City named De Bruyne and Kyle Walker on the bench at Selhurst Park in what was most likely a rest for the first-choice players.

That saw John Stones return to the starting XI for the first time after over a month out due to a hamstring injury.

The difficult decision for Guardiola was who to drop to bring De Bruyne back into the lineup, with Foden showing the most signs of form in recent weeks and Grealish also impressing.

Bernardo Silva is often one of the first names on the City teamsheet, hence his recent move to an unorthodox left-back role as Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri were kept in the team.

On Monday, De Bruyne appeared alongside Guardiola at the pre-match press conference in a nod towards him starting the game, which he does.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Stones, Akanji, Dias, Ake, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Bernardo, Grealish, Haaland

Subs: Ortega, Carson, Walker, Phillips, Laporte, Alvarez, Gomez, Mahrez, Perrone, Foden, Palmer, Lewis
