Navigating modern dating apps is challenging enough without the added surprise of intentional deception. For San Diego creator Dani Coco (@dani.coco1), a seemingly perfect match allegedly lasted only seven and a half minutes because of three blatant lies.
In a TikTok video titled “Shortest First Date Ever: A 7.5 Minute Experience,” Dani shared how her Hinge date took a sharp, unpleasant turn. Her story highlights a dating experience that was surprisingly short and packed with red flags.
A promising date setup ended in exactly seven and a half minutes after reaching the venue
Initially, Dani had high hopes for her evening. She had matched with the man on Hinge, and everything leading up to the meeting felt positive. Her date appeared to check all the right boxes. He was attractive, had a successful career, and had chosen a very nice restaurant for their meetup.
“So all in all, I was very optimistic,” she shared with her viewers. However, that optimism quickly faded as the date officially began and the truth started coming out.

Almost immediately, the man decided to come clean about his dating profile. He casually dropped three significant pieces of information that completely contradicted what he had presented online.
First, he admitted to being ten years older than his profile stated. While Dani noted that he looked young for his age, it was still a clear instance of dishonesty. Next, he revealed that his actual political views were the complete opposite of what he had listed.
Finally, he shared that he had two children. Dani mentioned she might have let that specific omission slide, understanding that some parents keep their kids off apps for safety reasons. But combined with the other falsehoods, she was understandably taken aback.
“You don’t really know what your political stance is”
Curious about his motives, Dani asked him, “Oh, is there a reason you chose to be dishonest about these things?” But his response was highly condescending. He explained his belief that most women do not actually know what they want in a partner.
Because of this strange belief, he felt it was necessary to trick women into going out with him so he could show them what they truly desired. He specifically told Coco that she was “just guessing” about her preferred age range, justifying his decision to bypass the Hinge age filters. He then added, “You don’t really know what your political stance is. I’m here to educate you.”
Coco walked out of the restaurant after hearing his arrogant and misogynistic response
After the man revealed his true beliefs, Coco decided she was not interested in being spoken down to. She quickly shut down his lecture before it could even begin. “You can have fun educating the empty seat across from you at this table because I am going to go,” she told him.
Saying her goodbyes, she promptly left the nice restaurant behind. She found his approach incredibly rude, noting how unpleasant it was for a stranger to claim she had no idea what she wanted. Instead of wasting her evening, she ordered her favorite dinner on Uber Eats for the ride home and blocked his profile on everything.
To wrap up the story, Dani turned to her audience to build some community solidarity. She asked her viewers to share their own shortest first date stories, concluding that her brief encounter was going to be hard to beat.
