Manchester City's odds on an undefeated season after treble success as Premier League fixtures are released

Manchester City have not even had two weeks to enjoy themselves as treble winners and already the task of retaining their trophy haul starts with the Premier League fixtures being released. Lifting the league, FA Cup and Champions League all in the same season has been something whispered about for the last few seasons but Pep Guardiola finally achieved the feat that only rivals Manchester United done back in 1999.

Pep Guardiola's side start of their title-defending campaign with a match against former Citizen captain Vincent Kompany as his newly-promoted Burnley side start their campaign at the Etihad Stadium but will not find out their Champions League group stage opponents until September and their FA Cup defence will not begin until January next year.

City are already priced as the early favourites to retain the Premier League title for an unprecedented fourth successive tie but could they go even further? Bookies William Hill have released odds on the possibility of blue-half of Manchester to go the full season undefeated - which only Arsenal have achieved in the Premier League era back in 2004.

The reigning league champions are 12/1 to go undefeated in all 38 league matches and 11/10 to avoid a defeat in all of their 19 league home matches. As well as this, the bookies have priced City to remain unbeaten by Christmas Day on 13/2 before their Boxing Day trip to Goodison Park against Everton.

Lee Phelps, William's Hill spokesperson, said: “After an incredible season for Manchester City, we don’t think it’s unreasonable that they could go unbeaten at home next season and we make them just 11/10 to do so.

“They have already taken the treble shouts away from Manchester United and we make them 12/1 to leave Arsenal with nothing to shout about by repeating their Invincibles record. We could also see it being a very happy Christmas for City fans as we make their side 13/2 to be unbeaten come December 25th.”
