M&S 'mummify' Colin the Caterpillar for Halloween and fans are loving it

Marks and Spencer has given its iconic Colin the Caterpillar cake a spooky new limited-edition costume for Halloween - and fans are going wild for it.

The high-street retail giant's regularly give their classic chocolate cake a seasonal makeover that fans regularly flock to stores for, and its latest ghoulish attempt looks to be another win. For the first time ever, Colin has been 'mummified' with a double layer of chocolate, with the top coat being a layer of white chocolate that represent 'mummy bandages'.

But, fear not milk chocolate fans, as Colin is still coated in a layer of his classic, velvety-smooth milk chocolate that you have come to know and love, reports WalesOnline.

It is the latest spooky costume that Colin has worn for the season, as previous years have seen a Creepy Colin and a Franken Colin go on sale for a limited amount of time.

And fans couldn't contain their excitement at the new spooky cake, with some even calling it a "little bit of heaven" after M&S shared the news to their official Instagram page.

M&S wrote: "Our limited-edition, double choc yummy mummy Colin the Caterpillar is here! He’s coated in a layer of Colin’s classic milk chocolate AND a layer of creamy white chocolate – WOW. Discover our Halloween range in store now!"

"I don’t celebrate Halloween, but I’m a Mummy, so that counts in needing to purchase this, doesn't it?!", raved one shopper.

"Colin original and best flavour of all, didn’t think he could be improved but covered in white chocolate. Wider family get together in half term booked", exclaimed a second.

"If anyone wants to treat me to this little bit of heaven yes please", wrote a third.

"Definitely need creepy Colin the caterpillar my life", wrote a fourth.

The original Colin the Caterpillar cake is a chocolate sponge roll filled with chocolate buttercream and coated in chocolate. It has spawned a number of spin-off products, as well as similar cakes available from other supermarkets.

The new limited-edition Double Choc Yummy Mummy Colin the Caterpillar is said to be priced at £12 and is currently available in-stores as part of M&S' new Halloween 2022 range.
