Luton vs Crystal Palace: Michael Olise poised for first start since May after hamstring injury

Michael Olise is in line to make his first Crystal Palace start since May against Luton.

The winger came off the bench for the final 23 minutes of Palace’s 3-2 defeat at Everton before the international break, after just one week of full first-team training sessions following his recovery from a long-term hamstring injury.

Olise missed all of pre-season as well as Palace’s first 11 Premier League games this term, having been hurt while representing France at the European Under-21 Championship in June.

Fellow winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is still sidelined with a hamstring injury which scans have suggested could keep him out until December or January.

The 21-year-old picked up the injury in training on November 2, the same day manager Roy Hodgson had suggested that Rak-Sakyi could become “Palace’s next Wilfried Zaha.”

Meanwhile, Palace’s medical staff are assessing on Friday whether veteran centre-back James Tomkins has recovered from a month-long calf injury in time to face Luton.

Palace head to Kenilworth Road on Saturday in need of a win, having earned just one league victory since September’s 1-0 triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford..
